WILDLIFE

  • Coral Reefs: The walls of the Blue Hole are lined with vibrant coral formations, including brain coral, fire coral, and soft corals, providing shelter for many marine species.
  • Reef Fish: Schools of brightly colored fish, such as butterflyfish, angelfish, and parrotfish, are commonly seen darting among the corals. You’ll also find groupers, lionfish, and anthias adding to the colorful underwater scene.
  • Turtles: Green and hawksbill turtles are often spotted gliding gracefully through the water, feeding on the abundant seagrass or resting among the corals.
  • Barracudas and Jacks: Larger predatory fish like barracudas and jacks may be seen patrolling the deeper waters, sometimes in schools, providing an exciting sight for divers.
  • Eagle Rays: Occasionally, eagle rays can be seen gracefully swimming in the deeper parts of the Blue Hole or near the Arch, with their distinctive spotted patterns.
  • Reef Sharks: While less common, reef sharks such as the grey reef shark or whitetip reef shark might make an appearance, particularly around the Arch and deeper waters.
  • Octopus and Moray Eels: These fascinating creatures often hide within crevices in the coral, offering a closer look for observant divers.
